Linocut Commission for ÒR

The ÒR team commissioned me to collaborate on an exclusive original linocut for their beautiful creative lifestyle store based on the Isle of Skye in the Scottish Hebrides.

After talking through ideas and exchanging reference images, we decided on depicting the Quiraing landscape and I drew up some initial compositions and colour ideas before we set on the final design. For this iconic ancient landslip, we wanted to create a print that felt atmospheric and magical, capturing the awe inspiring feeling of the Quiraing. Each layer was hand carved and printed on the Vandercook printing press. I custom mixed every layer’s ink colour by hand to create the soft dreamy tones of dusk.
