Printing the intangible

The ethereal wonder of the northern lights is that they are magical, mysterious and sometimes elusive, a little bit like the process of creating a print. For this aurora series I wanted to expand on my previous experiments of combining linocut and monotype processes. Each aurora is ‘painted’ into the ink by hand, removing ink from the block where I wanted the neon green aurora patterns to be revealed and dance in the sky. This process enabled me to create totally unique, painterly auroras on every single sheet of paper, whilst still creating a special series of four varied edition prints.

The series was first shown at ‘Glimsen’, a group show in March 2024.
